NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) -

The time is finally here! The Fredonia Hotel is ready to start hiring.

Job fairs are planned for next week. The owners told East Texas News their community investment will continue right down to the employees they plan to hire.

It may not sound or look like it, but at The Fredonia Hotel its manager says ...

"We're getting there. Getting close,” said Bud DeWitt, the manager of The Fredonia Hotel.

It’s a big milestone after a year and a half of at least $11 million of budgeted renovations on the 62-year-old hotel. DeWitt said the target opening date is June 1st.

"We're looking for all positions. Maintenance, housekeeping, landscaping, front desk, servers, bartenders,” DeWitt said. Just looking to fill almost 100, 140 jobs, somewhere in between there."

Job fairs will be held at Workforce Solutions in Nacogdoches the last two Fridays of April. Full- and part-time positions are available.

"We want people with experience,” DeWitt said. “We can also take people that don't have experience, so we can mold them into, you know, what we want them to be as far as what we're expecting for the hotel.”

The interviews will be handled personally by The Fredonia Hotel’s management.

"First impressions, you know, they always tell us a lot,” DeWitt said.

Once hired, employees will enter the notable Forbes training program ...

"It's one of the highest level of training as far as hospitality goes,” DeWitt said. I mean, it's a pretty expensive venture as well. We want people to be the best at these jobs that we can have."

Training is expected to begin in late April or early May. It will be followed by private parties and a soft opening.

The Fredonia Hotel Job Fair will be April 21 and April 28 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Workforce Solutions.
