NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) -

Officers with the Nacogdoches Police Department arrested a 37-year-old man on felony drug and evading arrest charges Tuesday evening after he fled a traffic stop on foot and was caught a short time later.

Charlie J. Duncan, of Nacogdoches, is still being held in the Nacogdoches County Jail on a second-degree felony possession of a controlled substance between 4 and 200 grams charge, state-jail felony evading arrest with a previous conviction charge, and a Class A misdemeanor possession of a dangerous drug charge. No bail amounts have been set for his charges yet.

According to the Nacogdoches Police Department’s daily activity report, NPD officers made a traffic stop on Duncan’s vehicle near the Chevron convenience store located at 1000 North University Drive at about 6:44 p.m. Thursday. During the traffic stop, Duncan jumped out of his vehicle and fled on foot, the report stated.

Duncan was caught a short time later and taken into custody.

After a probable-cause search of his vehicle revealed that he had been on possession of a controlled substance, Duncan was arrested at the scene and taken to the county jail.
