NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) -

Officers with the Nacogdoches Police Department arrested a 26-year-old woman Thursday night after a woman allegedly assaulted a police officer who had responded to a disturbance call at a home in the 1900 block of Coleman Street.

Carolyn Denise McGowan, of Nacogdoches, is still being held in the Nacogdoches County Jail on a third-degree felony assaulting a public servant charge. No bail amount has been set for the charge yet.

According to the Nacogdoches Police Department’s daily activity report, the incident occurred at about 9:10 p.m. Thursday night.
NPD officers responded to a disturbance call at a home in the 1900 block of Coleman Thursday night. When the officers started speaking to McGowan, “she suddenly assaulted a police officer,” the report stated.

Ashley Nicole Pettigrew, 31, of Nacogdoches, then tried to interfere with the NPD officers as they took McGowan into custody, the report stated. Pettigrew was arrested and charged with Class B misdemeanor interfering with public duties.

Pettigrew was released from the jail later Thursday night.
