GROVETON, TX (KTRE) - A Hillister man is charged in connection to a crime which originated when someone suspected he was interacting too much with a younger girl on Facebook.
According to Groveton police, the man was liking and commenting on a 16-year-old girl's Facebook posts to a disturbing degree, so the teen's mother turned her daughter's phone over to the police, who found that the man had been sending inappropriate texts to the girl and trying to get her to meet up with him.
Groveton Police Chief John Raiford said law enforcement officers picked Damon Allen, 37, of Hillister up in Tyler County, and he was booked into the Trinity County Jail on April 14. Allen was charged with second-degree felony online solicitation of a minor.
Raiford said that after the mother turned her daughter's phone over to them, they found that Allen had been sending the 16-year-old girl inappropriate texts and "sexting" with her. Allen also allegedly tried to get the girl to meet up with him.
