Lufkin Hosts First Annual Bike Classic

A day of cycling is planned in Lufkin Saturday.

The Charles Hall Memorial Biking Classic starts bright and early at the Angelina County Courthouse. The classic is named after a long time biking enthusiast from Lufkin, but the event isn't just for bikers. There will be plenty of other activities the whole family can enjoy.

Hundreds of racers are expected to participate.

Gregg Turner, owner of New Revolution Cycling, said, "We will have a climbing wall, water slides, the moonwalk for kids; we'll also have bike safety courses."

You can register for the bike rally until 10:00 p.m. June 24th at New Revolutions Cycling on South Timberland or starting at 6:00 a.m. Saturday morning at the Angelina County Courthouse.

The event itself starts at 7:30 a.m. Saturday with fun and fitness for people of all ages. At 10:00 a.m., there'll be a Family Fun Fest, followed by a bike parade at 1:00 p.m., and a Criterium race at 1:30 p.m.
