Tiger Woods might be done for 2017. The 14-time major champion announced on Thursday that he has underwent lower right back fusion surgery in hopes of alleviating ongoing pain that has bothered him in recent years.
Woods' agent Mark Steinberg said Tiger consulted numerous specialists as back spasms continued to cause him pain. This marks the fourth procedure that Woods has had on his back since March of 2014.
In other PGA Tour news, Diboll native Wesley McClain is playing at the Valero Texas Open this week in San Antonio. McClain fired a one over, 73 during the opening round and is seven shots behind leader Branden Grace.
