LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Despite a chance of rain on Saturday, The first Lufkin Spring Fest is still moving forward.
"We will go no matter what," main Street Director Barbara Thompson said. "We will have this rain or shine."
The rain chances right now are around 40% for the morning hours. The event is taking over the Downtown Hoedown. Thompson said the event will have the same feel and will have many of the same things, but will also bring in new events like a duel zip line and a gospel music event. The event will run from 10 am -4 pm.
"We will have the gospel music event inside the Pines Theater," Thompson said. "It will be great if it rains because you can go inside and stay dry."
During the event, multiple streets will be closed off. Thompson is asking for motorist to stay alert for heavy foot traffic.
