POLK COUNTY, TX (KTRE) -

Deputies with the Polk County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 33-year-old Houston woman on Saturday in connection to allegations that she grabbed her 7-year-old daughter by the hair, dragged her off a bed, hit her, and told her, “I’m going to kill you.”

Stephanie Renee Holmes is still being held in the Polk County Jail on a third-degree felony injury to a child causing bodily injury charge and a misdemeanor driving while license invalid charge. Her bail amount has been set at $25,000 for the injury to a child charge.

According to the arrest affidavit, a Polk County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched out to Holmes’ home Saturday in reference to an assault. When he arrived at the scene, he found the 7-year-old victim, who was crying. The girl also appeared to be startled, the affidavit stated.

The victim told the PCSO deputy that her mother (Holmes) grabbed her by the hair and dragged her off the bed, the affidavit stated. Then Holmes allegedly started hitting the girl in the face.

Holmes said, “I’m going to kill you,” according to the affidavit.

The little girl told the PCSO deputy that it hurt when her mother assaulted her. The deputy also noticed that the victim was covered in dirt as if she had been dragged.

“I also observed the defendant highly intoxicated on scene and belligerent,” the deputy wrote in the affidavit.
