ANGELINA COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - Deputies with the Angelina County Sheriff's Office are charging a Lufkin man accused of breaking into his ex-girlfriend's home and attacking her and her current boyfriend.
Jorge Garcia, 33, is charged with first-degree burglary with intent to commit assault.
According to an arrest affidavit, deputies responded to a call at the 200 block of Meadowview Street on April 1 and found two men in the front yard and one was holding the other down.
The affidavit states Garcia said this was his fault and that he attacked the other man with a knife.
They then spoke to the woman, who said she and Garcia were in a tumultuous two-year relationship. They ended the relationship in November but Garcia would constantly ask for her back.
She said she then began dating someone else. After going out to dinner on April 1, they went home and into the bedroom and then heard someone banging on the door.
The woman said Garcia then broke the front door down and tried to get into her bedroom. She said she tried to close the bedroom door but Garcia pushed the door open and came into the room.
She said Garcia began hitting her numerous times with a closed fist. She then got away from him and saw he was holding a pocketknife and he began swinging it at her when the boyfriend stepped between them.
She said the men then fought a short time before the boyfriend was able to put Garcia to the ground and they both got the knife away from him.
She said they continued to fight throughout the house and eventually ended up in the front yard, where they were able to hold Garcia down until deputies arrived.
They then interviewed Garcia, who said the entire incident was his fault. He said he had driven by the home after drinking with a friend and saw a truck he did not recognize in the driveway and "lost it."
Deputies obtained a warrant for Garcia's arrest on April 5 and he was booked into the Angelina County Jail on Friday, where he posted a $20,000 bond.
