Former School Leader Sentenced To Prison

A former Lufkin school leader made a court appearance Monday.

Charles Dexter Lewis pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography. A judge sentenced Lewis to three years in prison. Lewis also has to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.

During a search of Lewis' home, investigators found pornographic images of underage kids.

Last June, police also charged 35-year-old Lewis with providing harmful materials to a minor. Investigators say he e-mailed nude pictures of himself to a student.

He'll enter a separate plea to that charge, but he'll probably serve the sentences at the same time.

Lewis' attorney originally requested that Monday's plea hearing be reset for later this month, but Lewis changed his mind and entered the guilty plea.
