First responders work wrecks in wet weather

ANGELINA COUNTY, TX (KTRE) -

Emergency personnel have spent Wednesday afternoon working wrecks in the wet weather.

Both southbound lanes on US 59 north of Lufkin were blocked following a wreck. As of 4:50 p.m., southbound traffic was diverted to the shoulder.

Trooper Chad Wilson said an 18-wheeler cut off a Chevy Tahoe, driven by a 18-year-old Nacogdoches man. The Tahoe driver hit the median and bounced back onto the freeway. Nobody was injured.

In Lufkin, a man driving a Ford pickup hydroplaned off the loop between Lufkin Avenue and US 69. He left the road and drove into a tree line, but was not hurt, according to Lufkin police officers on the scene.
