LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Golden arches will soon be popping up on Lufkin's west loop.
Assistant City Manager Steve Floyd confirmed the news Wednesday morning. The new fast food restaurant will be built at 110 S. John Redditt Drive, between W. Frank and Centralia Ave.
According to Lufkin records. The building permit was filed with the city on April 26 by Morrison Construction out of Tulsa, OK. The business is registered under McDonalds USA LLC.
Beletra Thomas, the communication manager for McDonald's Greater Southwest Region, said that the company expects to start construction on its new restaurant in late May, and they hope to have it open by late August or early September.
"McDonald's is raising the bar on everything we do," Thomas said. "We've announced a number of big changes to our food, like removing artificial preservatives from our Chicken McNuggets and high-fructose corn syrup from our buns. Equally important is improving our customers' dining experience. That's why we are putting more choice and control in the hands of our customers."
Lufkin's new McDonald's will feature the company's new self-order kiosks, Thomas said. Customers who dine in at the restaurant can order their meals on the kiosks or at the front counter.
Thomas said the new location will also have table service, a double-lane drive-thru, and an indoor PlayPlace.
"We are taking positive steps to improve our customers' experience when they dine with us by offering new levels of choice, engagement, and service," Thomas said. "We're putting more choice and control in the hands of our customers – evolving what they order, how they pay, and how they are served at McDonald's."
