JASPER COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - One man is dead, and an investigation is underway into what caused him to drown Thursday night on the southern end of the Sam Rayburn Reservoir.
According to Texas Game Warden Justin Eddins, 76-year old Kenneth Fletcher died while fishing near the mouth of Tiger Creek. Game wardens, along with the Jasper County Sheriff's Office and the Rayburn Volunteer Fire Department were called out to the lake Thursday night around 8:30 by a neighbor that noticed Fletcher had not returned from fishing.
Eddins said Fletcher's body was found partially in the water, and it appeared to be accidental. Game wardens believe that Fletcher was attempting to untangle a rope from the propeller of his boat and somehow lost his balance and fell in the water.
Game wardens are investigating the incident with a reconstruction team but do not believe foul play was involved.
