NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) -

Officers with the Nacogdoches Police Department arrested a 17-year-old man after they caught him in the act of burglarizing a home in the 1900 block of Banita Street Wednesday night, according to the arrest affidavit.

Lakeith Pleasant, of Nacogdoches, is still being held in the Nacogdoches County Jail on a second-degree felony burglary of a habitation charge. His bail amount has been set at $20,000.

According to the Nacogdoches Police Department’s daily activity report, NPD officers responded to a 911 call about a burglary in progress at a home in the 1900 block of Banita Street at about 9:49 p.m. Wednesday. Dispatch told them that a suspect had pushed in a window air conditioning unit to get into the home.

When the NPD officers got to the scene, they spotted a suspect, who was later identified as Pleasant step back inside the house. After the officers entered the home, they found Pleasant behind a bedroom door, the affidavit stated.

The NPD officers took Pleasant into custody and found that he had items from the home in his possession, the affidavit stated. Pleasant allegedly admitted to pushing in a window AC unit to get into the home.
