NACOGDOCHES COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - Deputies with the Nacogdoches County Sheriff's Office have arrested a man charged with stalking a woman and accused of, among other things, claiming to hide in nearby bamboo with a rifle.

Charlie Gerard Lopez, 49, of Nacogdoches, is charged with third-degree stalking.

According to an arrest affidavit, deputies responded to a home on May 10. Once there, deputies learned from a woman that Lopez had called her numerous times and she said the calls were threatening. She said that during one call, Lopez told her he was hiding in the bamboo next to the home with a M-4 rifle.

After deputies left, they were called back a second time. While there, they recorded a phone conversation between the woman and Lopez, according to the affidavit. The deputy reported recording Lopez cursing at the woman and telling her he was going to "get her before law enforcement does." He also said he knew everything about the house and when her mother was there and when she was not, according to the affidavit.

The deputy obtained a warrant for Lopez's arrest on May 10. Jail records show he was arrested on May 26. Records also show he has bonded out of jail.
