The Lufkin Fire Department will soon have a new piece of equipment to help battle fires in multi-story buildings.
The Lufkin city council approved a bid for a new aerial ladder truck. Officials say the truck will be a great new benefit for the department.
"Say, people at the hospital... the building on fire, and you had people hanging out the fifth floor who needed assistance you can go up there in a platform and do a rescue compared to going up a ladder and trying to get them down on a ladder." says Ted Lovett with the Lufkin Fire Department.
The six hundred and forty thousand dollar truck will only cost the city sixty four thousand dollars thanks to a recent grant from FEMA.
