Troopers Say Alcohol Contributed To Fatal Crash

Highway troopers say alcohol was involved in a deadly wreck Tuesday night that killed a Lufkin man.

If tests show Tyrone Brown's blood alcohol level was over the legal limit, he'll be prosecuted for intoxication manslaughter.

Forty-four-year-old Wendell Porter died in the head-on collison. He was headed north on FM 2497 when he was hit by an oncoming car, driven by Brown, also of Lufkin.

Brown was headed south when he crossed into the opposite lane and crashed into Porter.

The wreck is still under investigation.
