DETROIT (AP) _ The American League has continued its recent

dominance in the All-Star game, building a 7-to-0 lead in a 7-to-5

win over the National League at Detroit's Comerica Park.

All-Star M-V-P Miguel Tejada (teh-HAH'-dah), Ichiro Suzuki and

Mark Teixeira (teh-SHEHR'-uh) drove in two runs apiece to help the

A-L improve to 8-0-and-1 since the 1996 All-Star game. Tejada

opened the scoring with a solo homer in the second before adding an

R-B-I single an inning later. Ichiro made it 5-to-0 with a two-run

single in the fourth before Texeira added a two-run homer in the


The N-L finally scored in the seventh on Andruw Jones' two-run

homer. They were the first runs for the Nationals since the fourth

inning of last year's All-Star game.

Mark Buehrle (BUR'-lee) was the winning pitcher, allowing three

hits while striking out three over two innings. Mariano Rivera

earned the save by striking out Morgan Ensberg to end the game.

John Smoltz was the loser.
