Clemens' oldest son signs with Astros
HOUSTON (AP) _ The Houston Astros will have at least one Clemens
in the organization in future years.
That would be infielder Koby Clemens, the oldest son of pitching
ace Roger Clemens.
The younger Clemens, who was drafted in the eighth round with
the 254th pick of the draft, signed a contract today with the
Koby Clemens then took batting practice with the team during a
workout in Houston.
His next stop is Greeneville, Tennessee, where he'll join the
Astros' rookie league affiliate.
By starting his pro career, Clemens is spurning plans to play
for the University of Texas -- the reigning national champion and
his father's alma mater.
Roger Clemens turns 43 next month.
Koby hit .523 with ten homers, 14 doubles and 55 R-B-I's for
Memorial High School this past season.
