ANGELINA COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - A Houston woman died following a wreck on U.S. Highway 69 in the Bald Hill area Thursday night, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
David Hendry, a DPS spokesman, said troopers responded to and investigated a two-vehicle fatal crash on US 69 South at FM 326 Thursday at approximately 5:15 p.m.
"The preliminary crash investigation indicates a 2011 Toyota SUV failed to yield right of way from the stop sign at FM 326 South and drove into the path of a southbound 2000 Kenworth truck tractor," Hendry said.
Hendry said the investigation showed that the driver of the Toyota was identified as Shirley Berry, 60, from Houston. Berry was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash by an Angelina County justice of the peace. The driver of the Kenworth truck was identified as Daniel Stanley, 52, from Huntington. Stanley was not reportedly injured during the crash. DPS said the crash remains under investigation.
