CROCKETT, TX (KTRE) - Officers with the Crockett Police Department arrested two men Sunday in connection to allegations that they robbed a man at gunpoint.
One of them later bragged that they had "expletive] up a white man out of $80," according to the affidavit.
Cody Lynn Bledsoe, 28, of Grapeland, and Damon Dewayne Dickson, 33, of Beaumont, are both still being held in the Houston County Jail. Each man was charged with first-degree aggravated robbery.
According to the probable cause affidavit, Crockett PD officers were dispatched to the Super Shop No. 2 located at 211 South 4th Street at about 5:33 p.m. Sunday in reference to a robbery that occurred on South 2nd Street. The victim walked to the store and reported the robbery to a store employee, who called the police.
Another CPD officer located the victim, who had walked away from the store. The man told the officer that one suspect was dressed in black clothes, and the other was wearing a white shirt and red shoes. They were also wearing ski masks, the affidavit stated.
Crockett PD officers detained three men who were in front of the Super Shop. One of the people they detained was Dickson, who was wearing all black. Bledsoe, who was wearing and orange shirt and red shoes, was sitting in the back of a GMC Yukon that was parked in front of the store.
Later, the Crockett PD officer transported the victim to the store, and he was able to identify Dickson and Bledsoe as the two men who robbed him, the affidavit stated.
Because there were two open Bud Light cans in the Yukon, the officers did a probable cause search and found a white T-shirt near where Bledsoe was sitting. He allegedly admitted that the T-shirt was his.
When the CPD officer who obtained the probable cause affidavit talked to the Super Shop employee who called 911, she said that the man in the orange shirt (Bledsoe) was laughing when he came into the store the affidavit stated. He bought two bags of chips with a $20 bill.
The employee asked Bledsoe how he was doing, and he allegedly said he was just living life and "trying to get the [expletive] up out of here." She told the police officer that was when she started to suspect he was one of the men who robbed the victim.
According to the affidavit, the woman walked up to the store's door and overheard Bledsoe tell another man, "We just [expletive] up a white man out of $80 at gun point."
The Crockett PD officer then spoke to the victim, who said he had been walking on South 2nd Street when two men came up behind him. They allegedly demanded that he give them his money.
At that point, Bledsoe displayed a black hand gun and said, "Give me your money," the affidavit stated. After the victim gave Bledsoe and Dickson his money, they allegedly ran off north toward East Houston Avenue.
The victim then walked to the Super Shop.
Bledsoe and Dickson denied having anything to do with the robbery, the affidavit stated. They were arrested and charged with aggravated robbery.
The affidavit stated that Bledsoe had a $20 bill in his wallet and $15 in his front pocket.
