NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) -

The Nacogdoches Police Department is investigating an armed robbery that occurred at the Verge apartment complex on Cardinal Street late Monday night.

According to the NPD’s daily activity report, the robbery occurred at about 10:19 p.m. Monday at the Verge apartment complex in the 1600 block of Cardinal Street.

Sgt. Greg Sowell, a spokesman for the Nacogdoches Police Department, said the two complainants told police they were sitting in a vehicle in the parking and talking when they were approached by two black men. One of the suspects was armed with a handgun, Sowell said.

One of the suspects demanded money from them, and they took a wallet and an iPhone from one of the complainants, Sowell said.

“During the event, one of the suspects reportedly assaulted one of the victims, causing minor facial injuries,” Sowell said.

The complainants described the suspects as black men in their 20s. Both suspects allegedly wore dark hoodies and bandanas over their faces.

The case is still under investigation. If the suspects are caught, they will be facing first-degree aggravated robbery charges.
