ANGELINA COUNTY, TX (KTRE) -

A one-vehicle crash involving a trash truck on FM 1270 in the southern part of Angelina County claimed the life of a 21-year-old Zavalla man Thursday morning.

According to a press release from the Texas Department of Public Safety, Dustin Coulter, a passenger in the car, was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck.

The preliminary crash report shows that a 2009 Sterling sanitation truck was traveling east on FM 1270 at about 8 a.m. Thursday. After the truck drove off the road to the right, the driver over-corrected to the left and back to the right again, causing the truck to roll over.

Coulter was ejected from the truck as it rolled over, the press release stated.

The driver of the truck was identified as Joseph Havard, 25, of Zavalla. He was taken to CHI St. Luke’s Memorial Hospital in Lufkin for treatment of his injuries.
The crash is still under investigation, the press release stated.
