HUNTINGTON, TX (KTRE) -

Three weeks is all that's left until students buckle their chin straps and hit the field.

In Huntington, players have been working through the summer heat all week with new coach Jim Kerbow. Kerbow was hired by the school in January. Old head coach Brian Gandy resigned from the district at the end of last season and now has a position in Corrigan.

Kerbow, the former Tyler Lee and Frankston Defensive Coordinator, looks to bring the Red Devils their first Playoff season ever. To get there he will have to improve in the win column. In the last three season the team has won a total of 6 games.
Kerbow is confident in the group of leaders emerging on the team.

"They are blue collared kids," Kerbow said. "They work hard and they do everything we ask them. It is come to work everyday with a great attitude, give us great effort out there on the practice field. Lets do the little things right and the rest will take care of its self."

The Red Devils kick off their 2017 season in Warren on Sept. 1.
