Former SFA Lumberjack Thomas Walkup has found a new home.
According to the official SFA basketball twitter account, Walkup has signed a 1 year deal with MHP RIESEN Ludwigsburg.
MHP RIESEN Ludwigsburg is a basketball club based in Ludwigsburg, Germany. The team competes in the Basketball Bundesliga as well as in the Basketball Champions League.
After a successful career at SFA, Walkup went undrafted in 2016 but signed with the Golden State Warriors summer league program. He would grab the attention of the Chicago Bulls and played in four preseason games. Walkup was then waived and sent to the Windy City Bulls in the NBA Development League.
In college, Walkup became the team leader of the Jacks that saw the team make three straight NCAA tournaments. Twice the team advanced past the first round. Walkup was also named the 2015 Southland Conference Player of the year.
