LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - A Texas Department of Public Safety trooper arrested an 18-year-old Huntington man on drug and weapons charges after a traffic stop on U.S. Highway 69 Monday.
A search of the man's vehicle turned up a "short barrel firearm," less than 2 ounces of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and alcohol.
Devyn Wilheim Durham is still being held in the Angelina County Jail on a third-degree felony prohibited weapon charge and a Class B misdemeanor possession of marijuana less than 2 ounces charge. Collectively, his bail amount has been set at $3,000.
According to a press release, an Angelina County DPS trooper stopped a 205 Honda passenger car on U.S. 69 for a traffic violation Monday.
When the DPS trooper went to talk to Durham, the driver, he noticed a strong smell of marijuana coming from inside the car, the press release stated. A search of Durham's car allegedly turned up less than 2 ounces of marijuana, "a short barrel firearm," drug paraphernalia, and alcohol.
Durham was arrested at the scene and then taken to the county jail.
