ANGELINA COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - A three-vehicle wreck that occurred near the intersection of U.S. Highway 69 and FM 326 in the Bald Hill area of Angelina County earlier this week injured six people.
One of the people injured in the wreck was airlifted from the scene to ETMC-Tyler for treatment.
According to a press release from the Texas Department of Public Safety, DPS troopers responded to the wreck at the intersection at about 5:15 p.m. Tuesday.
The preliminary crash report shows that Edward Bates, 20, of Lufkin was driving a 2002 Chevrolet S-10 pickup on FM 326 when he failed to yield the right of way at the Highway 69 intersection. His truck was struck in the side by a 2011 Dodge pickup driven by Jack Page, 15, of Lufkin.
At that point, the Dodge veered over into the inside northbound lane of Highway 69, and it was hit by a 2008 Pontiac car driven by Adrian Serrano, 23, of Lufkin, the press release. A 2010 Dodge pickup that was not involved in the original crash struck some debris in the road.
Bates was airlifted to ETMC-Tyler for treatment. His passenger, Paul Edmond-LaFleur, 50, was taken to CHI St. Luke's Health Memorial Hospital in Lufkin. Serrano and the three passengers in his car were also taken to CHI St. Luke's Health Memorial.
Page and a passenger in his pickup were not injured in the crash, the press release stated. In addition, no one in the 2010 Dodge pickup that struck debris from the wreck was hurt, according to the press release.
The crash is still under investigation.
