EAST TEXAS (KTRE) - TxDOT is reporting several road closures as tropical storm Harvey continues to advance through East Texas.
From Tyler District TxDOT:
All roads in the Tyler District's eight-county area are open to traffic without issue.
Counties include: Anderson, Cherokee, Gregg, Henderson, Rusk, Smith, Van Zandt, and Wood
TxDOT Tyler has sent 18 of its maintenance employees to assist with road and rescue efforts. Tyler employees left Friday morning for staging at TxDOT's Bryan District, along with employees from other offices from around the state.
This morning one of Tyler's crews, along with equipment, were dispatched to the Yoakum District to assist with roadway efforts in Victoria and surrounding areas. The other crew members remain in Bryan assisting with roadway issues there and will be deployed as needed.
At 3:02 p.m., TxDOT said the intersection of FM 819 and College Drive in Lufkin has been reopened for access to US 59 after closure for evacuee traffic.
At 1:15 p.m., there were reports that FM 942 was flooded at Hickman Creek in Polk County.
At 12:13 p.m.. there was also reports of a tree down across 146 near Schwab Road in Polk County. TxDOT said they have a crew in route to clear it from the roadway. Drivers should expect delays.
According to TxDOT, at 11:38 a.m. there were reports of high water in the northbound lanes of US 59 in San Jacinto County. US 59 at FM 1988 overpass in Polk County is also closed.
At 9:01 a.m. TxDOT was reporting was reporting high water reports in FM 222 at Big Creek, SL 424S at US 59 South frontage, FM 3128 west at Rose Hill and FM 945 North.
