LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - The Thundering 13 have landed in Dallas and are on their way back to their hometown of Lufkin on Monday.
The US National champions earned their title, but fell to Japan in the final World Series game on Sunday.
Two law enforcement officials, one with Lufkin Police Department, Brad Davis, and another Angelina County Precinct One Constable, Tom Selman, made their journey to the DFW airport to escort the team on their return.
The constable said that he sees it as his commitment to support the Lufkin All Stars in their historical journey.
"They have represented Lufkin on the highest level. The teamwork, the dedication, the resolve that they showed up in Williamsport (PA), they have put Lufkin on the map. This community owes that team and their coaches huge debt of gratitude for the job that they did," Selman said.
The Lufkin Convention and Visitor's Bureau is asking the community to mark their calendar's for Thursday at 5:30 p.m. for a welcome home party. It's being organized at the George H. Henderson Expo Center.
