LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

The body of a Lufkin man who went missing trying to help evacuate Harvey victims has been recovered.

The body of Tomas Carreon was reportedly found today, according to a post on the Y-100 Your Country Choice Facebook page.

A previous post made by the radio station reported that Alonso "DJ Ocho" Guillen, 31, of Lufkin, and Carreon had both been found.

A correction was issued. Only the body of Carreon was found Friday.

Both men were reported missing on Wednesday.

On Wednesday, Aug. 30, the station reported, “It is with heavy hearts that we make this post. Yesterday afternoon, Alonso ‘DJ Ocho’ Guillen, 31, of Lufkin, left the radio station early to head to the Spring area to help rescue stranded Harvey victims. Around midnight, the boat he was on capsized after entering water with heavy currents.”

According to Mike Koenig with Smith-Koenig Radio, he received a call Wednesday morning that the two men and another man who is recovering in a hospital, were traveling in a boat that hit a bridge and capsized. All three men were swept away by the fast moving currents.

The man in recovery was found about a mile from where the boat capsized. He was able to hang on to a tree long enough to be rescued.

Guillen worked as a DJ on Y100.1’s Lufkin sister station 101.9 during the afternoon “supermix” show, Koenig said.
