LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

Tippy is a sweet, 1-year-old Catahoula-cur mix dog that was brought into the Kurth Memorial Animal Shelter almost two weeks ago.

"She is very athletic. As you can see playing out here in the yard she loves to run," said Aaron Ramsey, the shelter's director.

Ramsey said she came is as a stray, making her history very limited, but the lovable dog is certainly very quick to learn new skills.

"She would very good to go to home where people have time to spend with her and let her exercise because of her breed. She's young, and she's going to want that time to get out and get that energy," Ramsey said.

Ramsey said the shelter is working with Tippy to walk with a leash. He reports that she is making progress as her training progresses.

Tippy is not spayed yet, but has started on her shots. The shelter said when anyone adopts her, those services to spade her are included in the $60 adoption fee.

"Tippy also, as you can see, she's got a very unique coloring. It's kind of a
brindle color with white patterns on her, so very healthy coat," Ramsey said.

Ramsey said Tippy may become a littler larger as she ages.

"She's at the perfect weight. She could probably add a little bit more weight, but she appears to be a very healthy dog," Ramsey said.
