NACOGDOCHES COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - A 21-year-old Garrison man died in a two-vehicle wreck involving a pickup and an 18-wheeler that occurred near Appleby early Thursday morning.
According to a press release from the Texas Department of Public Safety, the wreck happened in U.S. Highway 59 about a mile north of Appleby at about 12:45 a.m. Thursday.
The preliminary wreck investigation shows that Aaron Lee Borden, 25, of Garrison, was driving a 2006 Chevrolet pickup north on Highway 59 when he crossed over the center line into the southbound traffic lane for an unknown reason and struck a 2018 Mack tractor-trailer rig.
The passenger in the pickup, Adam Carpenter Borden was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Kerry Williamson. Aaron Borden was taken to Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
The driver of the 18-wheeler was not hurt in the crash, according to the press release.
This crash remains under investigation as troopers work to determine the exact factors that contributed to the crash," the press release stated.
