United Way Is Ready To Raise Funds

Last week, the United Way of Angelina County announced its fundraising goal for this year. Three new Lufkin agencies have joined the organization's annual campaign.

The Angelina Alliance for Children is now one of 23 groups that will get some of the money collected by the United Way. Being part of the campaign is a big accomplishment for non-profit groups.

Many of these organizations are funded through state grants, but they also have to try and raise money on their own.

"I think that, most definitely, when you're part of the United Way it rubber stamps the seriousness of your organization, your validity, and that you're doing something very worthwhile in the community and that you're meeting a need," said Cathy Pavlic of the Angelina Alliance for Children.

The Hope Center of North Lufkin and the X-Change place also joined the United Way this year. It wasn't easy, the agencies had to go through an extensive application and screening process.
