Another Reason To Stop Smoking

New research finds a link between cigarette smoke and what is called metabolic syndrome in teenagers.

The disorder causes a build-up of extra fat, which leads to health problems like heart attacks, strokes, and diabetes.

Phyllis Grandgeorge, of the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Council, said the number of teenagers smoking in East Texas is declining, but drug abuse experts say it is still a major problem.

Experts are still looking for answers about why smoking increases your chances for metabolic syndrome.
