A new statewide program is supposed to cut down on the sell of tobacco products. It is called HURTS, which stands for Halt Underage Retail Tobacco Sales.
Beginning September, there will be a crack down on retailers who sell to minors.
Donnie Nixon, of the Alcohol & Drug Abuse Council, said, "If a retailer is caught or cited for selling tobacco products to a minor it could result in their name being published in the local newspaper and other publications."
