Former SFA Lumberjack Shining in Canada

Tony Tompkins played his final down of football at Stephen F. Austin in 2004.

The 5' 8" elusive, playmaker from Pt. Arthur was overlooked by the N.F.L., but Tompkins is still making plays.

Tompkins is doing it on the longer and wider fields north of the border. Tony is a member of the Edmonton Eskimos, a Canadian Football League franchise.

He was named the Rogers C.F.L. Special Team Player of the Month.

Tompkins leads the C.F.L. in punt return yardage with 557 yards on 26 returns.

According to Edmonton's team website, Tony twice earned Rogers Player of the Week. First in week 4, when Tompkins opened the game with a 57-yard kickoff return and added 142-yards on 8-punt returns.

His second award winning week took place six days later in Ottawa. Tompkins returned a 96-yard punt return for a touchdown in the 2nd quarter.
