State Representative Shares Thoughts On School Finance Reform

School finance has been a hot topic in Austin lately. And two people involved in the process were in Nacogdoches Saturday. State Representative Roy Blake and Education Commissioner Dr. Shirley Neely were in Nacogdoches Saturday for the ribbon cutting of the ninth grade campus.

Even though the bill is having a hard time in Austin, both Neely and Blake hope that they can come to an agreement before the school year begins.

"I hope there is an attempt to take those things we can agree on such as a teacher pay raise and some textbook funding and a few reform measures and maybe hopefully pass some of those things before the beginning of school." says Blake.

The special session will officially be over on August nineteenth.
