GROVETON, TX (KTRE) - Deputies with the Trinity County Sheriff's Office have arrested a Groveton man after a K9 sniffed up drugs on his pickup Sunday evening.
Lionel Deon Johnson, 32, is charged with first-degree delivery of a controlled substance.
According to Sgt. Jeremy Alexander, a deputy saw Johnson driving around Groveton at 5:24 p.m. Sunday and knew he did not have a driver's license. The deputy tried to pull him over, but Johnson pulled into a Dollar General store. The deputy then followed him into the parking lot and reported Johnson got out of his pickup and was irate with the deputy.
Alexander said the deputy then detained Johnson while a K9 did an open-air sniff around the pickup and alerted on the driver's side door.
Alexander said the deputy then searched the pickup and found 26.2 grams of meth.
