JASPER COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - Deputies with the Jasper County Sheriff's Office arrested a 47-year-old man Tuesday after he and a child that he is with after school both allegedly tested positive for cocaine in their systems.
Derick Williams, of Jasper, was booked into the Jasper County Jail on a second-degree felony endangering a child charge. He has since posted bail and has been released.
According to the probable cause affidavit, an investigator with the Jasper County Sheriff's Office was contacted by a Child Protective Services official on Nov. 22. The CPS worker told the JCSO investigator that both Williams and the victim tested positive for cocaine, the affidavit stated.
The JCSO investigator said in the affidavit that he was presenting the case to a judge because both Williams and the child tested positive for cocaine and because "Williams is with the child most days after the child gets dropped off from school" at a home in the 700 block of County Road 099.
