Area banks were expecting to see a lot of changes with a new federal law called Check 21.
The law took effect at the beginning of the year. It allows banks to process checks electronically, which means checks can clear faster. Check 21 is designed to help banks save money.
Peggy Thomas, with the Angelina Saving Bank, said, "We aren't seeing hardly any change. We don't have the equipment or the software."
Bankers believe it could take as long as the year 2007 before any big changes are seen.
