NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - Deputies with the Nacogdoches County Sheriff's Office arrested a 30-year-old man Friday in connection to allegations that he tried to choke a woman and then hit her in the head with the blade of a sword.
John Matthew Henson is still being held in the Nacogdoches County Jail on a second-degree felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charge and a Class C misdemeanor operation of motor vehicle registration suspension charge. No bail amounts have been set for the charges yet.
According to the arrest affidavit, NCSO deputies went to check out a disturbance in the Douglass area at about 1:30 p.m. Friday. When they got there, they spoke to the victim, who told them that Henson grabbed her by the neck and started choking her and then hit her in the back of her head with the blade of a sword, causing her pain, the affidavit stated.
The victim allegedly had red marks on her throat.
Henson was located a short time later and arrested.
