Oil Pipeline Explosion Closes Highway 69 North

Roads are now open after an oil pipeline explosion off Highway 69 North, just north of the Lufkin city limits.

The blast happened Thursday around 11:00 a.m.

The explosion was caused by a construction crew working in the area.  One person was injured in the blast.  A construction worker operating a bulldozer was rushed to a Houston area hospital with serious burn injuries.

The ruptured line is a six-inch crude oil line.

Evacuations and road closures for a quarter mile radius of the blast site have been canceled.

The fire is completely out.
