NEW YORK (Twitter @TimesSquareNYC/CNN) - A little snow didn’t stop rehearsal for New York City’s big New Year’s Eve celebration.

Tarana Burke, founder of the #MeToo movement, will press the button to drop the ball into the New Year. Saturday, she got in a practice round.

She created the hashtag statement several years ago, but this year it took social media by storm in the wake of multiple sexual assault cases.

The hashtag has empowered people who experienced sexual harassment to speak up.
