SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

A man is dead and the reported shooter was not charged after a shooting in a Shreveport Walmart parking lot Friday morning.

Caddo 911 dispatch records show it happened at 12:46 a.m. in the 9500 block of Mansfield Road.

Police say the victim drove to the Wal-Mart Super Center armed with a semi-automatic rifle to confront a woman in which he was at one point believed to be romantically involved.

During the ordeal, the 33-year-old victim reportedly accosted the woman who was with another man sitting in a car in the store’s parking lot.

Police say that's when the 30-year-old man who was with the woman armed himself with a handgun and fired at her rifle-toting ex-lover, hitting him multiple times in the upper body.

The victim was taken to University Health hospital where he later died.

Police have not released the identity of the deceased pending official notification of family members.

Authorities took the shooter to the Shreveport Police headquarters for interviews. Following the interviews with investigators, police released the man without charge.
