An East Texas woman who accused her husband of shooting her two-year-old daughter last year is now telling a much different story.
It was an unexpected twist Wednesday in the aggravated assault trial for David Mitchell. Mitchell's wife took the stand and told the jury she no longer thinks her husband was the one who fired six rounds at her and her child last Fourth of July.
David Mitchell's mother also testified on her son's behalf. She told jurors Mitchell was shocked and surprised to learn he was a suspect in the shooting, and that the child had been shot.
The case is now in the hands of the jury.
