LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

A Lubbock woman is behind bars Tuesday night, accused of luring two young children away from an after-school program at Wolffarth Elementary.

33-year-old Rosa Linda Serna is now charged with enticing a child.

Police were called to the 3200 block of Erskine on March 1.

According to court documents, the two girls were playing in a playground when Serna went to the school to pick them up, claiming she was their mother.

While the teachers were working to confirm that she was allowed to take them, the police report says she grabbed the children by their arms and left with them.

The after school program alerted their father, who only lived a few blocks away. The father quickly jumped in his vehicle and headed for the school. He caught up with Serna as she was leaving and saw this woman he had never seen before leading his children.

When the father confronted Serna, the arrest warrant says she insisted that she was his wife's sister.

Serna followed as the father took his children home, but fled when he threatened to call police.

Both Serna and the father called 911. Court documents indicate that Serna was confused during the call and that it was difficult to understand her. The officer said it seemed like she was on narcotics or may have been in need of a mental health assessment.

Serna is currently in the Lubbock County Detention Center, held on a $25,000 bond.
