Local Salvation Army Headed To New Orleans

by Jessica Cervantez

Some East Texans are doing what they can to help the victims of Hurricane Katrina. The Lufkin division of the Salvation Army is loading up supplies, getting ready to take them to New Orleans.

The division has been on standby since Saturday, so everybody has been preparing for the trip since that time. They will be taking lots of food and water to feed thousands of people.

You can help by giving a monetary donation to the Salvation Army at www.salvationarmyusa.org or calling 1-800-SALARMY. On checks, write that it is for the Hurricane Katrina disaster relief so that money will specifically go to help those victims.
