Although many evacuees are here in East Texas, safe and sound, there is some concern about their loved ones they had to leave behind. Katrina's violent winds and rain have just about shut off all communications into New Orleans, knocking down land lines and even cell phone towers, making it next to impossible to check on family.
Romell Celious' mom is a New Orleans police officer who had to stay in the city.
"It's hard with the people around me. They help but, I mean, it's real hard. Like, two days ago, we were able to talk to her, but then it just stopped. We couldn't call at all," says Romell.
Romell says that, for now, all he can do is pray for his mom's and the other members of his family's safety.
