South Central VA Health Care Network has set up a toll free number for employees of the VA Gulf Coast Health Care System (Biloxi and Gulfport campuses) and the New Orleans VA Medical Center.
The telephone line will be operational beginning Thursday, September 1, at 6:00 a.m. Central Time (CDT). The phone line will be open from 6:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. (CDT) daily. The number is 1-888-766-2474. Employees may also receive information from the network’s website at www.visn16.med.va.gov.
Employees not already at work at VA Gulf Coast Health Care System and New OrleansVA should not report for duty until notified. Employees will be given excused absences during this period with no charge to leave. Regular payroll will continue to be paid using normal established direct deposit procedures.
Currently, the Gulfport campus of the VA Gulf Coast Health Care System is closed. The Biloxi campus is operational. All patients and employees who were on duty at the time of the hurricane are safe.
Patients and employees who were on duty at the New OrleansVA during the hurricane are also safe.
Patients at the New OrleansVA are in the process of being evacuated and transferred to other VA medical centers in the area.
Under some circumstances, patients at the BiloxiVA are being transferred to other VA medical centers in the area.
