CROCKETT, TX (KTRE) - Officers with the Crockett Police Department made three felony drug arrests following a traffic stop on East Goliad Avenue early Tuesday morning.
According to a press release, CPD officers stopped a 2008 Toyota Avalon in the 1300 block of East Goliad Avenue at about 1:27 a.m. Tuesday for several traffic offenses.
Rondarius Smith was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance between 4 and 200 grams, third-degree felony unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, state-jail felony theft of a firearm, state-jail felony possession of a controlled substance less than 1 gram, and Class B misdemeanor failure to identify.
Derek Williams was charged with second-degree felony possession of a controlled substance between 4 and 200 grams, state-jail felony unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, state-jail felony theft of a firearm, and a state-jail felony warrant out of Nacogdoches County.
The third person in the vehicle was Tori Wise. She was charged with second-degree felony possession of a controlled substance between 4 and 200 grams, state-jail felony theft of a firearm, Class A misdemeanor unlawfully carrying a weapon, and Class B misdemeanor possession of marijuana less than 2 ounces.
After the stop, the officers asked the driver of the vehicle to exit and move to the rear for safety reasons. While the driver was speaking to the officers, he admitted to having a small amount of marijuana in the vehicle.
At that point, the officers removed the two passengers and detained them, the press release stated.
During a probable cause search of the Toyota, the Crockett PD officers found a 9mm pistol that had been reported stolen by Dallas PD. The press release stated that it is believed that the handgun was used in an armed robbery in the Dallas area.
The CPD also found a clear plastic bag containing a white, powdery substance that later tested positive for cocaine. The cocaine weighed approximately 13.3 grams, the press release stated.
Rondarius Smith was found to be in possession of a Smith and Wesson .380-caliber Bodyguard with a loaded magazine and about 8.6 grams of crack cocaine. According to the press release, the handgun was stolen out of Cherokee County.
All three suspects were arrested at the scene and taken to the Houston County Jail.
